RELIEF HOUSEMOTHER – PART TIME POSITION AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY (PINELANDS)

We are looking for an experienced, mature person with a background and/or qualification in caring, to join our team at a group home for eight adults with Schizophrenia in Pinelands. A First Aid qualification would be a bonus. Preference will be given to a person who resides reasonably close to Pinelands.

Duties include: Preparation and cooking of meals, dispensing of medication, light cleaning, supervision of residents’ chores, watering the garden when necessary, and other general tasks as required from time to time.

Personal qualities required: Good listening and communication skills, compassion, patience, integrity.
Salary: R1200 per weekend, subject to review after three months.

Working hours: One weekend per month - Friday 16:00 to Sunday 16:00. The relief housemother will need to stay on the premises the entire time. Accommodation and meals are included. Occasional public holidays and annual leave relief may be required. Ability to work over the Christmas and/or Easter period will be an advantage. Double time is paid for public holidays.

If your interview is successful, you will be expected to spend one weekend on duty shadowing the housemother, at half the normal rate. During this time, you, the staff and residents will be given the chance to see if we are a good fit for each other.
